Numerous gunmen dressed as police officers attacked a maternity hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan yesterday. Twelve mothers and two newborn babies were among the dead.
One of the mothers, who lives in a remote village, had been waiting seven years to become pregnant. Her husband brought her to this hospital because of its expertise in delivering newborns.
Although she survived the massacre, her baby did not!
After the nine month pregnancy, she had him for one hour. The child is being returned to its hometown for burial.
I never cease to be amazed at the depths of cruelty the human race can create for the suffering of others who are often complete strangers.
To atone for this outrage, let’s all reach out in kindness to someone!
