If you have children, have you promised to take them somewhere and didn’t?
Have you promised to pray for someone and didn’t?
(The promise to pray for someone is almost always disingenuous!)
Have you promised to do something and forgot?
Have you intentionally made a promise you would not keep?
The making of a promise should not be a trite gesture.
The making of a promise is a demonstration of character.
Don’t make a promise if you don’t intend to keep it.
There are already enough trite gestures in today’s society.
