What To Say To A Dying Loved One?

It can be a difficult moment not knowing what to say.

I have a very simplistic approach to it.

It may or may not be the ideal approach for you.

I believe in thanking the dying person for the kind things he or she did for you and for others.

It may also be a good time to mention some of the highlights of your relationship.

I think it’s obvious that you don’t mention any negative things like past disagreements.

The dying person may be thinking about past regrets they could have done differently.

That’s why all of your comments should be of a positive nature.

It’s probably best to plan what you will say in advance.

Of course, it’s important to express your love to the dying loved one.

We live in a world dominated by text messages.

A text message is certainly not nearly enough when a loved one is dying.

You must make the effort to visit in person even if travel is required.

It is also a good idea to spend a little time of appreciation with the caregiver who is probably physically and emotionally exhausted.

The visit need not and should not be long, just a few moments to express your gratitude.
