No one loved his work more than Steve Jobs.

I know it may be impossible for you to leave your present job

…and go to your ideal job because it doesn’t make sense financially.

As we know, Steve Jobs began by tinkering in his garage.

There was no instant financial gain realized from his tinkering.

But he had a new idea that he thought had real potential.

Do you have a new idea that has potential?

Could you pursue it in your spare time?

Or, could you sell your idea to someone who has the time and resources?

Or, would you be willing or able to work in your favorite job part time?

I don’t know if any of my ideas listed here are practical or just thought starters for you.

Al put in action a 44 year tradition called Agility Drills..

These drills involved waking up at 6AM and coming to the school 3 days a week for 4 weeks.

They were grueling and very physically demanding.

No other team subjected their players to such a regimen.

And it made a difference during games.

You knew he was a very successful high school football coach.

You knew his Brother Rice teams won 5 state titles.

You knew he demanded maximum effort from his players.

Did you know he was a kind man?

Did you know he was a humble man?

Did you know he was a man of God?

Did you know he was a family man?

Did you know Al Fracassa?

Sunday at 10:00 a.m. is Family Mass at our Church. All families with children of any age are invited along with all of the other parishioners.

We do not have what used to be called a “cry room” where parents took small children to separate them from the congregation.

Personal experience taught us that there was little point in going to Mass if you had to spend the time in those rooms!

Sometimes it gets a little rowdy. On occasion our pastor has stopped and referred to the noise as “our future choir.”

It is NOT a good time for serious meditation.

It IS a good time for community prayer and singing.

For those of us who no longer have children with us, it is often a time of smiling, waving or empathizing with younger parents who are exhausted when Mass is over.

Above all, it is a good time for our very large family to be celebrating and thanking God together.

When these women and those before them broke with previous recommendations to reduce their physical activity while pregnant, it enabled researchers to argue for the necessary science to back them up.

Most prior recommendations for pregnancy weren’t based on strong science, said Dr. Emily Kraus, who leads Stanford University’s FASTR (Female Athlete Science and Translational Research) program.

“Because of all the ethical challenges with doing actual studies on pregnant women, many of these past guidelines weren’t grounded in research studies.

But rather doctors’ best judgment,” Kraus added in an email. (CNN)

The trees bend, but they don’t break.

They live to see another day.

How about you and me?

There is a simple lesson for all of us to remember.

Life forces all of us to sway and bend every day in so many instances.

It’s not always easy, but it is necessary.

And if you have children, they will see how you handle the forces that come at you, good and bad.

We must remember as parents, we are role models!

Our children learn so much more from what we do than what we say!

Learn from the trees!

Hard time to be a parent!

Hard time to be a teenager!

Both parents and teens are living with a lot of pressure.

Most parents are scrambling to make ends meet.

Most teens are trying to to make sense of a world in chaos.

And parents are trying to understand their teens caught up in the chaos.

So, where does LOVE come into the picture?

And how should it be expressed?

I think there are two demands:

1. Say to your teen often, “I love you and you can always come to me with anything.”
2. Listen, Listen, Listen. (You may not have the answers, but you can listen.)

And PRAY!

If not today, when?

And the great people I’ve met along the way.

I want to thank our children who are hosting a birthday party for me.

This is the GRATITUDE time of my life.

Gratitude for 61 years with the love of my life.

Gratitude for each member of our family.

Gratitude for my health.

Gratitude for blessings too numerous to mention.

Gratitude for the opportunity to serve our country.

Gratitude for my sailing partners, Dennis and Wylie who have passed on.

I spent most of my working life as a salesman.

I worked for a landscape company and then started my own.

I bought a big truck and had my name painted on the front doors.

My Dad was upset when he saw that all my money was spent on the truck and uniforms.

I reassured him that you have to look successful to be successful.

The profit from that business put my brother and me through college.

That was the beginning of my life as a salesman.

As a salesman, you get paid what you’re worth.

“I love sales! Every morning you wake up unemployed!”

(Until you find someone who will say, “Yes!”)

Yes, it took him ten years to finance and obtain his college degree.

It took tremendous perseverence to stay with his dream of a degree.

He joined the Detroit police department and rose through the ranks to his present position as plain clothes detective.

He spent many rough nights on Detroit streets in order to learn the job.

I am proud of him and his dedication to the people of Detroit.
