Sunshine Or Rain?

Well, which are you?

Most people are either one or the other.

O, I know present circumstances can temporarily affect your mood.

And a sunshine person can go dark while a rainy type will brighten up.

But which type are you most of the time?

I know my two categories are very general descriptions.

I guess most folks are attracted to sunshine and want to avoid darkness.

So, how you project yourself greatly affects how you are recived by others.

Sometimes in life you have to fake it. You start out grumpy and force yourself to smile.

Then somehow, you usually feel better because often you will get a smile back that turns you around!

You can bet on it!

Surprise Her With Flowers Today!

Yes—TODAY!

For NO REASON except that you love her.

I believe the love you have for your spouse is a life long COURTSHIP!

The best time to surprise her with flowers is when you’re not expected to.

And if we’re being honest, she contributes more to the marriage than you do.

That’s why a simple gesture of flowers is a way of saying thanks!

So, say it with flowers.

If not today, when?

What To Do On Sundays After Football is Done?

Front view of three male friends watching sports on tv together while having snacks and beer

I think most football fans watch between 3 and 6 hours of NFL games each Sunday.

That is a lot of time that is soon available to you on Sunday afternoons.

FAMILY What can you do for other family members during that time? Unless your spouse is also a football fan, she deserves your attention. Your kids live in a vastly different world than yours. What can you do to reach them? Your parents would love to hear from you or better yet, visit them more often.

YOUR CAREER Own your own business? What new services can you offer your customers? What new incentives would motivate your employees? Are you an employee? How can you improve your value to your employer?

YOUR HEALTH Are you as healthy as you should be? All of your responsibilities become more burdensome if you are not as strong as you need to be. Many resources are available to you. You owe it to your family to be physically fit.

VOLUNTEER “It is in giving that we receive.” Could you get your familly involved in helping those who are not so fortunate? Many organizations in your community are available for your assistance. It would also be an opportunity for your kids to learn how good they have it.

In Harm’s Way

Black Police Officer Stock Photos, Images and Backgrounds ...

He is the 10th of 10 children in his family.

His siblings were very violent including his father who spent three, five year terms in prison.

He did a lot of fighting while growing up.

I met him when he was a high school football player.

He graduated from high school and began his college education.

He later joined the Detroit Police Department.

Because of his violent family, he was immediately assigned to the gang squad.

While breaking up gang fights, he has been shot at three times.

Fortunately, all three shots missed him.

He puts himself in harm’s way so he can earn a good salary and a pension for his family.

At the same time he improves the city and is a role model for other young people.

We need more of this kind of citizen.

“Woe Is Me!”

21,220 Poor Family Stock Photos - Free & Royalty-Free Stock ...

It is an old expression that connotes sadness or disappointment.

It may also be a feeling you have if you think you’ve been treated unfairly.

Another popular expression is “Down in the dumps.”

The best way I know to ‘right the ship’ is to count your blessings.

If you’ve got some DOWNS, you need some UPS!

Even though I don’t know you, you are better off than 90% of this world’s population.

I know some people who are a part of the 90%.

They never have nor never will have certainty with their housing needs.

They never have nor never will have a car.

They never have nor never will have health insurance.

They never have nor never will live in safety.

They don’t have access to adequate food.

Their children will grow up uneducated.

So, do you have the right to say, “Woe is me?”

“Perfect For Her!”

I have a young friend who is 30 years old.

He has been my friend for 12 years.

He has lived a very tough life thusfar.

He has made a number of wrong decisions, all of which have created a difficult life.

He has had various young women in his life.

He has three children.

None of those relationships have yielded positive results.

About six months ago he met a young woman who has a son.

For the first time in his life, he is in love.

His recent text says it all:

“She gives me so much energy and love, it makes me look at all the things I didn’t finish in my life and get it done SO I CAN BE PERFECT FOR HER!”

That’s love!

Ohio State’s $20 Million Paid Off!

Quinshon Judkins

This is the concern I have about the money in college sports.

Having lost to Michigan, Ohio State built a war chest to attract and keep great football players.

Notre Dame also brought in QB Riley Leonard who guided ND to the winningest year in history.

There is currently no limit on the money colleges can pay their athletes.

So, the big schools outspend the smaller ones.

The better athletes conduct a bidding war between schools to decide where they’ll go.

School loyalty goes out the window.

Many athletes remain at a school for two years and then move on for more money.

It’s not right!

When He Knew They Had Lost!

I met an older gentleman of Japanese descent.

We were both swimmers in our swim club.

As a child living in Japan, he was forced to leave his home and live with other kids away from their homes.

His home was eventually bombed by the American Air Force during WWII.

After the war, he continued his education and received a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the U.S.

His flight stopped on the island of Guam for refueling.

As he looked out of his passenger window, he saw an American flag waving in the breeze.

He also saw a Japanese Destroyer that was rusting out and had run aground.

It was those two sights that helped him realize that Japan had really lost the war!

Too Old For Yacht Racing!

At my age, I can no longer participate in yacht racing which has always been my favorite activity.

It is an example of a decision made due to age.

We all will give up something that we can no longer do.

What will you do in its place?

I have chosen two activities: a daily excercise program and a daily blog.

I enjoy both of them.

They will, however, never be an adequate alternative to yacht racing.

But they are a compromise that must be made!

Want To Write A Book?

I’ve written 10 of them.

Don’t attempt it if you’re not passionate about the subject.

Bookwriting (as you probably guessed) requires immense perseverance.

I think the easiest topic is something you’ve personally experienced.

Three of mine were about yacht racing.

Having participated in over 100 races, I knew the topic well.

I was also able to include great photos in each book.

If you’re looking for some basic steps on writing a book, just Google it.

Just a simple tip: The title must be a grabber to stir up interest.

Some authors suggest you could write about something that interest you.

After researching the information that answers your questions, you are ready to write!

Go for it!

Don’t regret not trying to write one.

We all have a book in us!
