Big Jobs Bounceback?

A job and resource fair in Hendersonville, North Carolina, on November 19.

In October, the initial estimate for the month’s employment gains was a scant 12,000 jobs.

Economists are expecting 17 times that total for November.

When the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the November jobs report at 8:30 am ET on Friday, it is wholly anticipated that the data will reflect a sharp rebound.

When plugging those striking and weather-waylaid workers back in, November’s report is expected to show a net gain of 207,500 jobs, according to consensus estimates on FactSet. (CNN)

Let’s hope the projection is accurate!

Playing Piano from A Pickup!

Dozens of internationally renowned recording artists give concerts in Vegas every year, but the musician who connects best with people might be a local troubadour who improvises on a piano in the back of his pickup.

The maestro, Danny Kean, calls his setup The Traveling Piano, and he has traversed North America sharing music for nearly 20 years.

Kean’s home base is Las Vegas now, and every time he plays, he invites passersby to climb aboard the truck and tickle the ivory for themselves.

Even if people are shy or say they can’t do it, Kean usually convinces them to give it a try, inspiring total strangers to express themselves through the common language of music. (CNN)

General Who Oversaw Afghan Withdrawal Promoted!

Christopher Donahue speaks to journalists after a US Air Force transport plane transporting military equipment and troops arrived at the Rzeszow-Jasionka airport in southeastern Poland on February 6, 2022.

An Army general who oversaw the US withdrawal from Afghanistan was promoted to a four-star officer after a Republican senator dropped a hold on his nomination, according to a Senate aide.

The Senate on Monday confirmed Lt. Gen. Chris Donahue to be the commander of US Army Europe-Africa by unanimous consent, meaning no senator objected to his approval.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin, a Republican from Oklahoma, had previously blocked the promotion, despite the Senate Armed Services Committee advancing 984 other military promotions. (CNN)

I don’t understand why they promoted him.

Do you?

Do You Take Your Eyesight For Granted?

Elton John, pictured in London on October 10, 2024

Elton John says he still cannot see, months after suffering a severe eye infection.

Speaking on stage at a gala performance of the “The Devil Wears Prada” musical in London on Sunday, John thanked his husband, David Furnish, saying he “has been my rock.”

“I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I have lost my eyesight.

So it’s hard for me to see it.

But I love to hear it and, boy, it sounded good tonight,” said John, who wrote the score for the show. (CNN)

Do you take your eyesight for granted? Do you take your ability to hear for granted? Do you take your ability to taste for granted? Do you take your ability to walk for granted?

Well, do you?

Notre Dame Cathedral Is Back!

Paris ((CNN)

Five years after the flames roared and the world held its breath, Notre Dame cathedral is coming back to life.

“It’s a wonder. Even for us who are very often in the cathedral, it doesn’t get old, it gets more beautiful every day,” Philippe Jost, the head of the effort to rebuild Notre Dame, said in November.

“There’s a Sistine Chapel effect,” he said of returning to the beloved landmark, with something to see and discover wherever you look.

With the cathedral set to open to the public on December 8, even today, the cause of the catastrophic fire that blazed through the monument on April 15, 2019, remains a mystery, though investigators believe it was accidental.

12 Year Old Gives Advice To His Dad!

Before the Detroit Lions game vs. the Chicago Bears, the son of one of the Lions reserve players gave his dad some advice.

12 year old AI Quadin Muhammad Jr. told his dad, a reserve Lions line backer, to not waste the opportunity if he gets in the game.

After the game, dad told the Free Press reporter his son gave him a whole speech that he had taught his son years ago.

Dad said, “It’s crazy because you instill certain things in your kids and it comes back at you years later.”

Luckily, dad took his son’s advice and made a big tackle near the end of the game.

Thank You For…

…MY SPOUSE!

Yes, my spouse1

Do you remember, “For better or for worse?”

After the vows are exchanged, reality begins.

Things aren’t exactly as we thought they would be.

Somethings are bettter, somethings worse.

And how does your spouse deal with the unexpected?

And are you always “ALL IN” with support?

So, it begins as a promised partnership.

Well is it?

My wife once told me it’s not 50-50.

Each partner must give in 60% of the time. With “wiggle room” the partnership continues on.

Today is Thanksgiving. Make everyday Thanksgiving for your spouse!

Where R The Heroes? In The Kitchen!

Modern woman cooking

Let’s talk about what it takes for the REAL HEROES to create Thanksgiving!

First, the HERO has to review who’s coming for the great dinner.

What food restrictions do they bring?

What limitations do they put on the HERO’S shopping list?

How big a turkey or turkeys must be purchased?

Once purchased and carried home, which foods can be prepared in advance?

Does the HERO have enough china and silverware?

What amount of hand chopping will be required?

Are there enough serving dishes, chairs and table clothes?

Can the schedule of cooking various items be co-ordinated properly?

God bless the HERO!

Wealthy Americans Scrambling To Europe!

A couple pull suitcases along an alley in Lisbon in February 2022. Portugal's Golden Residence Permit Program is popular among Americans.

Europe could soon be welcoming a wave of well-heeled Americans, as Democratic voters facing the prospect of another Donald Trump presidency eye refuges abroad.

Interest in so-called “golden visas” has skyrocketed among US citizens since the election, according to consultants that help the wealthy migrate.

Golden visas allow people to effectively buy foreign citizenship or residence through sizable investments, including in real estate, government bonds or startups.

Henley & Partners, which claims to have invented the concept of citizenship-by-investment in the 1990s, said inquiries by US nationals via its website spiked almost 400% the week of the election compared with the prior week.

Many of these individuals don’t plan on permanently relocating to a new country, however. “The main focus for most Americans is just having the optionality… like an insurance policy,” said Dominic Volek, head of private clients at Henley & Partners. (CNN, London)

The wealthy among us always have more options!
