Are You Burning With An Idea?

One of the reasons America grew into a superpower is innovation!

An example of our great freedoms is that Steve Jobs can begin tinkering in his garage and bring computers to the average person.

You may have an idea that could improve the quality of life for people.

You can bring an idea that will make food preparation easier & faster.

Whatever it is, will you make it happen?

The first step is to conduct a patent search to be sure your idea will be protected and is not already in existence.

The second would be to do some research to see how people react.

If you are onto something, where will the seed money come from?

There is risk involved in launching a new idea.

Are you up to it?

Why You Should Hire Moms!

Workin' Moms

Happy Mothers Day To All Moms!

Did you know dads are paid more in the workplace than single men? (CNN)

Not so for moms!

Another example of unfair treatment in the workplace.

There is a move afoot to include the word “MOM” on resumes’.

Employers must learn of the many advantages of hiring a mom.

As we all know, moms are great multi taskers.

They have to be.

They have managerial experience.

They are experienced TIME managers.

They have a built in motivator to earn more money because kids are expensive.

They can be trusted to take on responsibility.

If you are an employer, hire moms!

Today’s Kids Are Not As Fit as 20 Years Ago!

(NIH)

They spend too much time sitting!

Today’s fit kids are those who choose athletics.

Of course, most are spending too much time on their cell phones.

And they’re gaining access to too much information.

And much of this information is disturbing or difficult for them to comprehend.

Obesity is more evident in today’s kids.

As a possible result, there is a lack of confidence.

Childhood was a simpler time with limited access to information and more time to be a kid.

Recently, our U.S. Armed Forces can’t reach their recruiting goals.

So, they are recruiting older people.

Is this due to a lack of confidence or patriotism in our young people?

Our kids have a very different world to figure out!

Parents need to be the guides and overseers for their children’s activities and health.

We have many elections coming up this year.

If we rely totally on the media for our information, we may get lies and other forms of misinformation.

What we need to hear in this pivotal year is THE TRUTH!

And that obligates you and me!

We can send emails to many sources of information with our opinions.

We can call in to talk shows.

We can send letters to the editor.

Seek the truth and spread it around!

Mom Delivers Baby & Doctoral Dissertation On The Same Day!

Expecting mother delivers baby in car just hours before she earned her Ph.D.

NEW JERSEY (WABC) — This Mother’s Day will be especially poignant for a New Jersey woman who will not only celebrate being a mom, but also becoming a doctor.

Tamiah Brevard-Rodriguez was working on her doctoral dissertation presentation from Rutgers when she went into labor on March 25.

She was only eight months pregnant and was scheduled to deliver her dissertation defense that day.

“I was physically prepared for a pregnancy, mentally my brain was not on a baby,” she said. “So I was having a very emotional response to knowing I was in labor, knowing I had this defense. I was literally shaking.”

We never know what life will expect of us!

Words As Weapons?

Words are THE most powerful tool you have in your arsenal.

At any given moment, they can help or hurt.

So, the question is: How many helpful or hurtful words will you use today?

People remember both kinds.

From my perspective, I think there are too many hurtful words in daily use.

Also, remember that words can HEAL too.

I guess you really have 3 choices.

You can use words that help, hurt or heal.

I think millions of people need HEALING.

But, the choice is yours!

The Wonderful Story of Poland!

My brother just returned from 10 days spent in Poland.

He was overwhelmed by the kindness of the Polish people!

I had read about millions of Ukrainian refugees who had fled the Russian invasion when war broke out.

Because Poland shares a long border with Ukraine, many of those refugees came to Poland.

My brother said that none of the refugees in Poland were in tent cities or gymnasiums.

They were welcomed into private homes.

Keep in mind that Poland was occupied by the Nazis and the Russians.

So, the Polish people have suffered for generations.

Yet, kindness abounds!

What To Say To A Dying Loved One?

It can be a difficult moment not knowing what to say.

I have a very simplistic approach to it.

It may or may not be the ideal approach for you.

I believe in thanking the dying person for the kind things he or she did for you and for others.

It may also be a good time to mention some of the highlights of your relationship.

I think it’s obvious that you don’t mention any negative things like past disagreements.

The dying person may be thinking about past regrets they could have done differently.

That’s why all of your comments should be of a positive nature.

It’s probably best to plan what you will say in advance.

Of course, it’s important to express your love to the dying loved one.

We live in a world dominated by text messages.

A text message is certainly not nearly enough when a loved one is dying.

You must make the effort to visit in person even if travel is required.

It is also a good idea to spend a little time of appreciation with the caregiver who is probably physically and emotionally exhausted.

The visit need not and should not be long, just a few moments to express your gratitude.

Orangutan Applies Medicine To Its Wounds!

The male Sumatran orangutan treated a facial wound by chewing leaves from a climbing plant and repeatedly applying the juice to it.

Scientists working in Indonesia have observed an orangutan intentionally treating a wound on its face with a medicinal plant, the first time this behavior has been documented.

Rakus, a male Sumatran orangutan, treated a wound on his face by chewing leaves from a climbing plant named Akar Kuning and repeatedly applying the juice to it, according to a paper published in the journal Scientific Reports on Thursday.

Rakus then covered the wound with the chewed up leaves, which are used in traditional medicine to treat illnesses like dysentery, diabetes and malaria, said scientists. (CNN)

This story reminds us that the animal world is much smarter than we really know.

Our dog obviously has a high intellect.

She is constantly making decisions and doing things that amaze me.
