Broadway’s longest-running show, “The Phantom of the Opera,” had its final curtain call on Sunday.

After 35 years and nearly 14,000 performances, the musical is closing due to declining ticket sales.

International productions of the show will continue.

The Tony Award winner, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, opened at the Majestic Theatre in New York in 1988.

It is based on a Gaston Leroux novel and tells the story of a mysterious figure who haunts a Paris opera house and falls in love with a beautiful young singer.

“Thank you Andrew Lloyd Webber for the gift of your unique talent!”

Coming off an MVP-caliber season and a fantastic showing in Super Bowl 57, the Philadelphia Eagles have rewarded Jalen Hurts with a long-term contract extension.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hurts has agreed to a five-year, $255 million deal.

It includes $179.3 million guaranteed along with a no-trade clause.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this is the first time in Eagles franchise history that a player will receive a no-trade clause in his contract.

Hurts’ $51 MILLION AVERAGE SALARY will make him the highest-paid player ever.

What in the world is going on?

In my opinion, people who should be paid more are school teachers, para medics, nurses, military, police and fire.

LET’S THINK ABOUT IT…NOW!

How Much Is Enough!

These are some lines from the song: What’s It All About, Alfie:

” What’s it all about when you sort it out, Alfie?”

Are we meant to TAKE more than we GIVE

Or, are we meant to be KIND?”

That is the primary issue for those who have more than they need.

Of course we know, “You can’t take it with you.”

So, what should a wealthy person do about having too much?

Some wealthy people say: “Poor people are just lazy.

So, they don’t deserve my help.”

The truth is that the odds are stacked against poor people from day one.

Poor people lack good schools, medical care, safe neighborhoods and a car because insurance rates are much higher than they can afford.

If a wealthy person would take some time to learn about the lives of poor people, they would have a new perspective.

It is in giving that we receive!

If not today, when?

Choose Your Words!

Words are a powerful tool.

They can hurt or heal.

Choose them well.

People can remember what you said to them ten years ago.

If you said words in anger, they are never completely erased.

Another thing to consider is that you don’t know what mood the other person is in

or how their life is going at the time.

What you say today may be fine, but not tomorrow!

I think the best rules are to be HONEST (but not TOO honest!) and KIND!

Sometimes it is best to “swallow” our feelings and not express them at all.

If not today, when?

Hope For The Great Salt Lake!

It was only three months ago that nearly three dozen scientists and conservationists sounded the alarm that the Great Salt Lake in Utah faces “unprecedented danger.”

Unless the state’s lawmakers fast-tracked “emergency measures” to dramatically increase the lake’s inflow by 2024, it would likely disappear in the next five years.

Now, after an incredible winter full of rain and snow, there is a glimmer of hope on North America’s largest terminal lake. (A terminal lake is a lake with no outlet.)

Water levels had fallen to a record-low last fall amid a historic, climate change-fueled drought across the West.

As of Thursday, the snowpack in the Great Salt Lake basin was more than double the average for this time of year. (CNN)

1Month Of Rain in1Hour!

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Fort Lauderdale and other communities across southeast Florida are working to get life back to normal after monumental flooding wreaked havoc on the area.

The flood closed transportation hubs, schools and government offices.

During the peak of Wednesday’s torrential barrages, a month’s worth of rain fell in just one hour. Many of Fort Lauderdale’s streets turned into lakes when rain exceeding 2 feet inundated the coastal city.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews on Thursday handled “another 250 calls for help on top of the 900” calls received during flooding the day before, according to Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis. (CNN)

Grief Is LOVE Persevering!

I will always love MOM & DAD!

Our two parents, working together to raise and educate their six children, raised the bar on marriage and parenthood.

Mom was a graduate of the University of Chicago.

Dad was a graduate of Notre Dame.

He went on to obtain a masters degree in Biology and taught at ND for 21 years.

Aside from their academic accomplishments, they were good human beings!

They practiced honesty and respect of others.

Our grandfather owned a hardware store in a small town in Southern Ohio.

We would visit them each summer.

The last time we made the trip, grandpa was dying and dad cried.

He knew he would not see his father alive again.

My mom’s mom was a widow who lived into her nineties.

Grandma was an Irish immigrant who lived a hard life.

In all the years I lived at home, I never heard our parents argue, even once.

Grief is LOVE persevering!

I will always love them!

Cheaper Batteries Coming!

Today’s Electric Vehicles are powered by LITHIUM BATTERIES.

Tomorrow’s Electric Vehicles will be powered by SODIUM BATTERIES.

SODIUM costs only 3% of the cost of LITHIUM.

China has a university graduating all its students in SODIUM BATTERY design & manufacturing.

Sodium comes from salt and will drive EV’S with rechargeable batteries.

So, EV’S that use SODIUM BATTERIES will be much cheaper than today’s models.

This will make EV’S more affordable for everyone!

EPA Rules 66% Of New Cars Sold In 2032 Must Be Electric!

The Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday proposed ambitious new car pollution rules that could require electric vehicles to account for up to two-thirds of new cars sold in the US by 2032.

This would be one of the Biden administration’s most aggressive climate-change policies yet.

The tailpipe standards would also have the effect of cutting planet-warming pollution from cars in half.

Transportation accounts for nearly 30% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the US, according to the EPA.

EPA Administrator Michael Regan called the regulations “the strongest-ever federal pollution standards for cars and trucks.”

Regan touted the proposed rules on “CNN News Central” on Wednesday, claiming they would bring down costs for consumers and slash planet-warming pollution.

“This is a future for everyone, and we’re starting to see all of the auto industry move in this direction,” Regan told CNN’s Sara Sidner, saying strong auto emissions rules have been part of President Joe Biden’s “vision from day one.”

If approved, the emissions standards would start model year 2027 vehicles.

One expert told CNN the Biden administration’s proposal is a pivotal moment for the US auto industry and consumers.

Rescue At Sea!

Rescue operations are underway to aid hundreds of migrants adrift on boats in the Mediterranean.

The Italian Coast Guard on Tuesday was escorting two boats carrying 1,200 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, as part of a major operation in a region that has seen migrant arrivals spike in the past year.

Emergency workers were racing to rescue a barge with 400 migrants onboard that had ran out of fuel, according to the volunteer-run service Alarm Phone.

The Coast Guard told CNN later Monday that it is also escorting another vessel carrying 800 migrants.

“Due to the prohibitive sea conditions, the Peluso ship, the Diciotti ship and the Coast Guard patrol boats are escorting the two units, in difficulty since yesterday, with migrants on board,” the Coast Guard said on Twitter. (CNN)

European countries have taken in many migrants in the last few years.

Italy has taken many because it is a shorter distance from Africa.

But, its Coast Guard came to the rescue because that’s what all Coast Guards do: Save Lives!
