Rachel Apa, a 24-year-old runner from Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, died on November 1, 2026.
She collapsed near Mile 24 of the TCS New York City Marathon.
Her family reported that she suffered from rhabdomyolysis, a rare and severe condition involving the breakdown of damaged muscle tissue. (NYT)
The only consolation I can offer is that she died doing what she loved to do!
